Steve Mung was born on Dec 20th, 2003 in Jiangxi, China. He's now studying in Pudong Foreign Language School in Shanghai. Steve's road of music didn't start until he learnt to play guitar when he was 14 years old in 2017. Before that, he learnt to play piano when he was 5, but wasn't fascinated by it, just like millions of other piano learners in China at that age. But he loved pop music and singing, which was influenced by his father. Several years later, after Steve gave up learning piano professionally, he started to focus on guitar playing, just because he thought it was cool, simple as that. At that time, he didn't really fall in love with the music he loves today. That summer, one of Linkin Park's leader singers, Chester Bennington, left us. That opportunity led Steve into European and American rock music. He thought that the new metal music was a kind of music which could express the pain in heart, and it was not as noisy as the other metal music. But that was just the begginning. Until that time, Mung was still a common person who considered music as a kind of common interest, which seemed to be a hard work for him to do it by himself. He's first guitar teacher in Jiangxi didn't think Steve was a talented boy to play guitar because his fingers were shorter and weaker than the other learners. The opportunity that let him love music was that he watched the live performance of Escape Plan, a Chinese band, which let him think that pop music could be very beautiful, and guitar could also be the major part of a music work, which could be very beautiful too. He found that the real guitar playing was more than his first guitar teacher had taught him. Steve came back to Shanghai several months later and found another guitar teacher, who taught Steve a lot and became one of the most important teachers in his life. In his classes, Steve's technique of guitar playing grew very fast. He also let Steve know one of the world's best guitar players, singers and musicians-- Eric Clapton. Clapton really influenced Steve a lot in the days after. He led Steve into the music of the 20th centry, which is still Steve's best-loved music style today. Besides Clapton, the person who influenced Steve the most at that time was Joey Lau. He's a friend of Steve's, a music genius, a perfect teenager musician and a good teacher. Influenced by him, Steve started to cover a Escape Plan's song in 2018 by himself, with his guitar and piano. It was the first time Steve thought a music work which seemed very simple was actually very complicated, but very beautiful, and fantastic. It was actually a happy-birthday song for someone. But Steve thought it was not so good. Actually it was dry as a desert. Later, Steve started to listen to more European and American music of last centry. In the music world, he met Eric Clapton, Elton John, Neil Young, Stevie Wonder, J. J. Cale, Bee Gees, Eagles, the Beatles, Queen, Bob Dylan and so on. They all influenced him a lot. In the summer holiday of 2018, he went to Joey's house and prepared for their first cooperative album-- JeSuS' 2018 (JeSuS' was a band found by Joey Lau, Steve Mung and Sam Cheung when Joey was still in PFLS, and Sam is planned to be kicked out now). The trip let Steve learn a lot. He learnt how to make better surrounding, better guitar and better chorus. After he got back home, he started to write his own song, Starlight. It was a song for a girl, for the dreams of people had, and for the innocent starlight. It was better than the first song Steve covered, which was a great progress. That is the way how Steve started. Now, Steve becomes a small musician, who has his own understanding for the music works. "Whether my songs was accepted by others or not, whether there are people listen to me or not, and whether my music style is popular or not," he said," I'll keep making the music I like."
